Sylvester Kasawala has been an integral part of the SA First Jurisdiction Christian Education department since his appointment in 2014 by Bishop Mathews. Tasked with assisting Superintendent Roedolf Botha, Kasawala brings a wealth of experience to his role.
Born in Zimbabwe to a Zimbabwean mother and a Malawian father, Kasawala’s journey in faith began in Malawi, where he grew up. He initially worshipped at Christ Citadel International Church before joining the Assemblies of God upon relocating from one town to another within Malawi.
In 2007, Kasawala moved to South Africa, where he became a devoted member of Tabernacle Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Mathews. Since then, he has remained an active and dedicated member of the church, serving in various capacities and contributing significantly to its growth and mission of the Church.
Licensed as a minister in 2008 and ordained as an elder in 2013, he has served in various capacities within Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ. Notably, he served as the first assistant pastor to Bishop Vincent Mathews and led multiple ministries including Men’s, Discipleship, Children’s Church, and Ushering.
Raised in the Roman Catholic Church, Kasawala’s diverse background and extensive experience have equipped him to effectively contribute to the Christian Education department’s mission.
His steadfast commitment and his passion for Christian education make Sylvester Kasawala a valuable asset to the SA First Jurisdiction.
